Nuit Blanche Toronto 2012

On the 29th of September, 'from dusk till dawn', Nuit Blanche took place in downtown Toronto.

What is Nuit Blanche? It is an event that takes place every year, for the past seven years, where you can experience the full sensory display of contemporary art of over 150 projects, be it small or large-scale.

This next video is a summary of what was going on that amazing night:

Words cannot fully describe what has happened that night, so I will just let you enjoy some photos that speak for themselves.

A walk downtown

What better way to see downtown Toronto if not by walking around?

Yonge street is always a good place to start your walk, where you can pass by or even enter the stores and bars lying on it.

You have stores like H&M, Elle, SEARS, to name three of them, and restaurants, pubs and bars with different flavours and cuisine, like Paramount Fine Foods, which serves Middle Eastern dishes. A bit higher up on the street you have the world-known Hard Rock Cafe.

In the pink lit displays they have above the bar, they keep their most prized possessions: guitars, bass guitars, outfits, and all sorts of other items received from different artists.

If you want to know more about what they offer, go to their official website. You can also take a 360 tour of the cafe, to have an idea about what it's like.

After having a light lunch or even just a cocktail at Hard Rock Cafe, you can just cross the street for some shopping at H&M. Or Eaton Centre, which is right next to it. Or better said, H&M is a part of it.

For all you fashion and shopping lovers, Eaton Centre would be the perfect place for shopping. It has both upscale and middle scale shops, which makes it perfect for every pocket.

After walking around the immense shopping centre (and who knows, maybe after some shopping as well), you can exit through the Southern gate, which leads you to Queen Street. If you walk to the right for a bit, you'll get to the Old City Hall.

The beautiful Romanesque styled building sits triumphantly at the corner between Queen and Bay streets, across from the Nathan Phillips Square. It's a pretty impressive building, standing out among the glass skyscrapers.

Downtown Toronto has many more things to offer, it just depends on what each and every one of us needs.
I recommend you go walk around when the weather is nice - and not too cold, mind you - and just enjoy this beautiful city.

Until next time~!

On the shores of Lake Ontario

Hello everyone! A good day to you.

This blog will mainly be about places I've been to and liked, but for now I will start with the country I moved to: Canada. As a foreigner here, you have a LOT of places to see and experience. From all points of view. What I will write about here will mainly be about how you can keep boredom away while travelling.

This may sound boring to some of you, but just watching the lake made me feel very good. I love the sea and Lake Ontario reminded me of it. It even had that specific smell that just calms you.
So I just sat on the beach, just watching the lake, with my earphones on, listening to music and enjoying some green ice tea. Weirdly so, the songs I was listening to kind of matched the surroundings and my mood, which made it just perfect.

After that, I went on a stroll around the harbor. Being such a lovely day, it was the best decision I had made.

Close to the Bronte Harbor (Oakville), you can find cafes and terraces where you can go and enjoy a cup of coffee, with the view of the lake stretching from one side to the other.

If you drive on Lakeshore, you will be able to see the lake almost the whole time. From downtown Toronto to Burlington, you will have the mass of blue glistening beautifully, offering you a feeling of calm.

So if you enjoy a nice walk along the beach or a good drive on the lake shore, just jump in a car and go for a ride. You can stop along the way to eat something in a nice restaurant or have a coffee in a cafe anywhere on the shore.

Next time's subject: it's a surprise. :)
